Ryan recently had an interview with Jessie Maguire in which he tells us that his album is finished!

Since so many people have to say something about this new single, I collected a few opinions:

BlazingSwarm: "You're Not My Girl" is a funky first single from R&B singer/songwriter Ryan Leslie. It has a heavily influenced Michael Jackson sound to it. I like the song but I don't think this song is a good look as a first single. This is the type of track that'll just fly under the radar. "Transition" is the name of Ryan's upcoming album and it'll be released early 2010.

LoveBScott: Ryan Leslie – You’re Not My Girl: Ryan Leslie doesn’t sleep. Even though he released his debut album this past February, this is the lead single off of his upcoming album, Transition, which is due out this fall. This song is HOT! It reminds me a bit of Omarion’s “Entourage”…only better. Ryan Leslie is a musical genius and this is a must-have for the iPod.

Toyas-World: This is fantastically amazing. It sounds like a mix between the sounds taken from Michael Jackson’s ‘Off The Wall’ and Justin Timberlake’s ‘Justified’ with some additional retro spunk. The track packs some serious punch and is about to terrorise the ipod. I’ll try my best not to overplay it though but that will be kind of hard. Ryan only just released a new album in February of this year and it was absolutely brilliant. Just click on the tag to read my album review. I am really stunned he is putting out a new album so soon. It hasn’t even been a full year yet but I’m not complaining. His music is hot and his beats are simply banana’s. I haven’t been this anticipated about an R&B male’s album since Usher’s ‘Confessions’ and Craig David’s ‘Slicker Than Your Average’.

HipHop-Prophet: *Dies and goes to heaven* This is now officially one of my favourite songs of 2009! The production is fantastic, I can't get enough of the old-school-meets-new-school sound and the hook is on a whole nother level. To me this sounds like one of The Neptunes crazy-pop space songs like they did on Kelis' debut album, but mixed with old school R&B-funk with a really instrumental, organic sound and a bit of 70's disco thrown in! Ryan Leslie really shut it down with this and came with something fresh and a little out of the box, but has still managed to keep his trademark sound. I'm just worried that radio might not play it but we'll see what happens. Damn Cassie girl, you really should've stayed with this man and made sweet music together!

The CS Perspective: Well didn’t this catch us off guard. Ryan Leslie’s first single from his sophomore album, Transition, leaked today. We seriously thought he was promoting his debut until it caught on.
As for the song; there’s no doubt that Ryan Leslie is a gifted musician but at first listen this song wasn’t clicking…
Now a few listens later we love it. Ryan Leslie is definitely a grower artist because he is so sharp, thinks outside of the box and steps to the left on too many occasions. All of this which in the long run is perfect for an artist looking for longevity.
